Description

They found the village's missing hunters at last — hanging from the great oak at the forest's edge, their skulls stripped clean and lashed to a towering staff planted in the earth like a war banner, a warning from something vast and bestial that now considered this land its own.

The Skull Bear Warrior is a hulking, bear-like humanoid brute caught mid-crouch in a posture that radiates coiled menace. One massive clawed hand reaches forward as though sizing up a target, while the other grips a long bone-and-iron staff crowned with a vicious spiked ball — the kind of weapon that leaves marks on both armour and memory. A trio of skulls hangs from its loincloth like trophies, and the creature's mane of shaggy fur cascades over heavily muscled shoulders, framing a snarling, fang-filled maw. From the back, a thick mantle of layered feathers or scales adds further bulk and texture, making this sculpt a genuine joy to pick out with a brush.

This is a creature that tells a story before a single dice is rolled. The shaman-like staff, the collected skulls, the predatory crouch — every detail suggests something more than a mindless beast. This is a tribal leader, a spirit-touched warrior, or perhaps a cursed chieftain whose humanity is buried somewhere beneath all that rage and fur. Dungeon Masters will find no shortage of narrative uses for a figure this characterful.

The sculpt sits on a medium 25.5mm base and has been designed with generous surface detail throughout — the layered fur mane, the wrapped forearm bindings, the individually textured claws, and the ornate spiked mace-head all reward careful painting with washes and drybrushing alike.

Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Need a formidable forest or wilderness boss encounter with genuine visual impact
  • Are running a tribal shaman or cursed berserker as an NPC faction leader
  • Want a lycanthrope variant or werebear champion with a more savage, primal aesthetic
  • Collect beast-kin and monstrous humanoids for display or warband building
  • Are looking for a high-detail centrepiece miniature to challenge their painting skills

Encounter Hook

The party is tasked with brokering a truce between two rival logging settlements and the forest spirits that oppose them — but when they arrive at the sacred grove, they find the spirit-speaker already dead, and the Skull Bear standing over the body, staff planted in the earth, eyes locked on the tree line. Did it kill the mediator, or is it the only thing standing between the party and whatever came out of the dark?
