The Skeleton Troll is a genuinely unsettling encounter piece. Where a standard skeleton offers the rattle of something once human, this creature carries the hunched, predatory frame of a troll — long-limbed, wide-jawed, and built for violence. The grasping clawed hand reaches forward, jaw stretched open in a hollow, silent roar, whilst the other hand drags a gnarled wooden club behind it. Every proportional exaggeration that made the troll terrifying in life is preserved in death, only now it answers to a necromancer instead of its own hunger.
Sculpted with real character, this miniature works brilliantly as an undead boss encounter, a necromancer's heavy enforcer, or a unique addition to a shambling horde that your players genuinely won't see coming. Equally at home on the gaming table as on a display shelf — this one earns its place in both settings.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Run undead-heavy campaigns and want variety beyond standard skeletons
- Need a mid-tier boss monster that feels genuinely threatening on the table
- Collect and paint undead or giant-type creatures
- Want a display piece with dynamic, expressive sculpt work
Encounter Hook:
The party has tracked the necromancer's supply lines deep into the fen, only to find the "guards" aren't humanoid at all — three troll skeletons patrol the perimeter, each one animated from a body the necromancer had to hunt down specifically. They move with a lurching, unnatural speed, and when one of them is finally felled, the party notices the bones are already trying to pull themselves back together.
