This bundle contains two distinctive scatter terrain pieces, each dripping with necromantic dread and sculpted with extraordinary detail by Epic Miniatures.
The first piece is a dead tree smothered in skulls — a gnarled, twisted trunk whose bark-like tendrils have been replaced by writhing skeletal remains. Skulls of every size cluster at the branches and roots, with bony, reaching limbs extending upward as though the dead are still clawing toward the surface. It reads equally well as an ambient terrain piece, a sinister landmark, or a harrowing focal point for a necromancer's lair.
The second piece is a feathered shrine or corrupted idol — a domed structure of overlapping feathers (or scales) that parts to reveal hanging tendrils beneath. Skulls are carved or embedded into its stone base, and scattered loose skulls litter the ground around it. Whether this is a monument to some forgotten death god, a mimic in disguise, or simply the most unsettling cairn your party has ever stumbled upon — that's entirely up to your Dungeon Master.
Both pieces are rendered in rich detail that rewards careful painting, and their generous size makes them genuinely eye-catching centrepieces for any encounter map or display shelf.
Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:
- Run campaigns set in haunted forests, cursed wastelands, or the Shadowfell
- Want evocative scatter terrain to dress necromancer lairs or graveyard encounters
- Paint detailed terrain pieces for competition or display
- Need thematic props for Ravenloft, Curse of Strahd, or homebrew horror settings
Encounter Hook: The party tracks a missing village herbalist into the Thornwood and finds her satchel lying at the foot of a vast skull-tree — its branches now holding twelve skulls instead of eleven. As they examine the shrine nearby, the feathered dome shudders, and something behind it exhales.
