Description

The throne room fell silent as the Overlord raised one skeletal hand — not a command, but a summons, and somewhere in the catacombs below, the dead began to stir.

This is no shambling revenant dragged from a shallow grave. The Skeleton Overlord carries itself with the cold authority of a ruler who refused to relinquish power even in death. Every detail of the sculpt speaks to a being of ancient station: the breastplate is covered in swirling filigree and layered scale-work that suggests centuries of craftsmanship, the pauldrons are broad and commanding, and a long flowing cape sweeps dramatically behind the figure, its fabric captured mid-motion. A skull-faced helmet with swept-back decorative crests crowns the ensemble — regal, grim, and faintly terrible.

The pose is authoritative rather than aggressive. One gauntleted hand is raised and open — gesturing, commanding, beckoning — while the armoured body turns slightly, as though the Overlord has just noticed something requiring its attention. It is the posture of something that does not hurry, because nothing dares to keep it waiting. The ornate armour reads equally well as a Death Knight, a Lich Lord, a Revenant general, or the BBEG at the heart of a necromancy-driven campaign arc.

The sculpt rewards a patient painter. The filigree on the breastplate, tassets, and cape hem offers excellent opportunities for edge highlighting and wash work, while the smooth cape panels contrast beautifully against the textured armour beneath. Bone, tarnished gold, and faded heraldic colours are all natural palettes for this figure — though a stark monochrome scheme would carry just as much menace.

This miniature is multipart and comes with your choice of base: a plain base for seamless integration into your existing basing scheme, or a decorative sculpted base to make it a display piece straight out of the box.

Encounter Hook: The party has been hired to retrieve a stolen relic from the Catacombs of Aldenmere. Deep in the lowest vault, they find not the bandit lord they expected, but the Skeleton Overlord — who has been collecting relics for three hundred years and considers the party's contract a rather impertinent inconvenience.
