This mounted skeleton commander cuts an imposing figure — a crowned skeletal rider in full plate armour, seated atop a skeletal warhorse whose exposed ribcage and hollow sockets speak to something long dead yet wholly purposeful. A long sword is raised in the rider's bony grip, and a tattered cloak trails from armoured pauldrons. The horse's skull bears a bladed crest, giving the mount a predatory silhouette that sets this apart from rank-and-file skeleton cavalry.
The sculpt rewards careful painters. The articulated bone of the warhorse — vertebral joints visible along the spine, skeletal legs clearly defined at the knees — contrasts beautifully with the solid plate of the rider's armour and the draping cloth at his back. The crown atop the skull is simple but authoritative, marking this figure instantly as a commander rather than a foot soldier. Whether you're painting chipped bone, tarnished plate, or the ghostly shimmer of ethereal flame between the ribs, there's real depth to work with here.
On a 51mm base, this mounted lord has genuine table presence. He's the kind of miniature that makes players sit up when you place him on the board — a visual signal that this is not a routine encounter. He works equally well as the centrepiece of a display shelf, particularly if you're building out an undead cavalry force or an army of the damned.
Adventurers who'll want this one:
- DMs running undead kingdoms, lich-ruled domains, or fallen empire campaigns
- Players building skeleton cavalry warbands for skirmish games or narrative encounters
- Painters drawn to the contrast of exposed bone against heavy armour
- Collectors assembling a display-worthy undead host
Encounter Hook: The party crests a frost-covered ridge to find a column of skeletons marching in grim silence — and at the head of the column, a mounted figure in a cracked crown turns slowly to face them. The Skeleton King has been counting the living in this valley, and the count is almost complete.
