This skeleton warrior carries the memory of a life spent in service — quilted armour buckled tight across hollow ribs, a broad shield raised against enemies it can no longer name, and a spiked flail swinging with the mechanical patience of something that will never tire. The sculpt has excellent detail throughout: the diamond-quilted pattern of the armour reads clearly across the torso and shoulders, individual chain links are visible on the flail, and the broad-brimmed kettle hat sits at a slight tilt above that eyeless skull — giving the whole figure an almost jaunty, unnerving air.

Below the belt the illusion of the soldier gives way to bare bone. Tattered cloth hangs from the waist, and skeletal legs end in splayed bony feet — a sharp visual contrast between the disciplined, well-maintained upper armour and the stripped-bare lower half. It is exactly the kind of detail that rewards a painter: washes pooling in the recesses of the quilt pattern, drybrushing picking out the knuckle joints, a spot of verdigris on the shield boss to suggest centuries of neglect.
