Description

The bolt was loosed before the adventurers even saw the shooter — a skeleton in a battered brigandine and wide-brimmed helm, hollow eye sockets tracking its prey with the patience only the dead can afford.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

There is something unsettling about a skeleton that has retained its battlefield discipline. This crossbowman is no shambling grave-crawler — it stands wide-legged and ready, crossbow levelled at chest height, a full quiver of bolts strapped across its back. The quilted brigandine armour it wears in death is as well-kept as any soldier's, buckled tight over exposed bone, the fabric still carrying the diamond-weave pattern of a once-proud regiment. A wide-brimmed helm sits atop that grinning skull, lending it the silhouette of a military marksman rather than a mindless husk.

The detail on this sculpt rewards the painter who takes their time. The latticed texture of the armour catches wash beautifully, and the skeletal hands gripping the crossbow offer an opportunity for stark bone highlights against dark metal. The quiver on the back gives depth to the rear of the model — something too many skeleton sculpts neglect. Whether you paint it in the faded colours of a fallen kingdom or the grey-green of a necromancer's freshly raised troops, this crossbowman reads clearly and decisively at table distance.

This variation comes in two base options: without a base for adventurers using their own basing system, or with a plain 25.5mm medium base included — the choice is yours at checkout.

Suited to adventurers who:

  • Need a disciplined ranged skeleton for undead warbands or army encounters
  • Are building a necromancer's retinue and want a marksman among the melee
  • Want a skeleton sculpt with genuine character and military bearing
  • Are painting a display shelf of undead across different troop types
  • Run campaigns in Ravenloft, Barovia, or any setting steeped in undying warfare

Encounter Hook

The party reaches the crest of the hill and finds the road below already held — a line of skeletal soldiers in mismatched armour, crossbows drawn, positioned with the eerie calm of troops who have waited centuries and have no intention of hurrying now. From the treeline, a single command — spoken in a language long dead — and the first volley is loosed.
