Description

Something beneath the graveyard stirred — not undead, not fiend, but something older, its hooded form scuttling across shattered headstones on coiling tentacles, one claw raised as though greeting the very thing it intends to consume.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Shoggoth Monk Chase is one of those sculpts that stops you mid-scroll and makes you want to build an entire encounter around it. Wearing a billowing, peaked hood and cloak that could almost pass for a wandering pilgrim, this creature conceals something deeply wrong beneath its robes — a torso encrusted with dozens of concentric, lidded eyes and layered chitin-like rings, entirely inhuman in construction. One clawed hand reaches outward with an almost welcoming gesture, fingers splayed, while the other clutches at the folds of its cloak. Below the hem, thick segmented tentacles coil and grip at the broken graveyard terrain of its sculpted base, tipping and scattering grave markers beneath its weight.

The contrast in this sculpt is where the real craft lies. The upper cloak is smooth, sweeping, and almost serene — the kind of silhouette that belongs on a monastery wall. Then the hood draws back to reveal that face: two enormous concentric-ringed eyes, expressionless and ancient, set into a textured mass of layered flesh that looks like it was assembled rather than born. It is deeply unsettling in the best possible way, and will reward painters who lean into contrasting skin tones, OSL on those eyes, and deep washes in the chitin folds.

On the gaming table, this miniature works as a unique aberration, a disguised monstrosity lurking in a graveyard or Underdark shrine, or a mid-tier horror encounter that makes players genuinely uneasy before the dice even hit the table. On the display shelf, the combination of flowing cloth and grotesque organic texture makes it a compelling centrepiece painting project.

This listing includes both a decorative scenic base version and a plain base version, giving you the flexibility to mount it to your preferred basing scheme or enjoy the sculpted graveyard rubble as intended.

  • Adventurers who love painting high-contrast sculpts — smooth cloth against deeply textured organic surfaces
  • DMs who want an aberrant encounter that feels genuinely alien rather than simply monstrous
  • Collectors drawn to the unsettling intersection of the mundane (robes, hood) and the horrific (eyes, tentacles)
  • Pathfinder and D&D players building out graveyard, Underdark, or Shadowfell encounters

Encounter Hook: The party is hired to investigate a series of disappearances in a remote village. Survivors describe a hooded figure — small, shuffling, glimpsed near the cemetery at dusk — that seemed to be performing last rites. When the adventurers visit the graveyard at night, they find the figure crouched over a freshly disturbed grave, one claw raised toward them in that unnerving open-handed gesture. It does not speak. It does not flee. It simply waits.
