Shield Guardian by Monster Atlas

The Shield Guardian is one of D&D's most evocative constructs: a walking fortress of bolted plate and arcane will, built not for war but for devotion. This sculpt from Monster Atlas captures that presence with authority — a hulking humanoid frame clad in riveted full-plate armour, broad pauldrons sweeping out from the shoulders, and a spiked visor helm that obscures any hint of the face beneath. The gauntleted fists hang ready at its sides, and every panel of iron bears the marks of deliberate, purposeful engineering. There's no flourish here, no decoration — just mass, function, and silent, unbreakable purpose.
This listing includes two distinct poses of the Shield Guardian, each captured from multiple angles. One stance is forward-facing and commanding, the other slightly turned as if beginning to move — both convey the same sense of weight and inevitability. Whether you're statting it out as a CR 7 construct, using it as the mechanical guardian of a forgotten vault, or displaying it as a centrepiece, either pose holds the table with real presence. Suited equally to gaming and display collecting.
Brilliant for adventurers who:
- Run encounters involving arcane constructs, bound guardians, or lost civilisations
- Need a large, imposing NPC or dungeon centrepiece that commands the room
- Want a mechanically interesting painting project — riveted armour plates are a gift for drybrushing and edge highlighting
- Are building artificer-themed campaigns, ancient ruin encounters, or Eberron-adjacent settings
Encounter Hook:
The party enters the sealed inner sanctum of the Thornbridge Mausoleum — and finds it already occupied. The Shield Guardian has stood motionless in the centre of the chamber for three centuries, its amulet still hanging from the neck of the lich entombed in the sarcophagus behind it. The moment a player steps within 10 feet of that coffin, the construct's head turns. Slowly. Deliberately. It was given one instruction. It intends to follow it.
