Description
Something in the undergrowth is moving — not an animal, not the wind, but the forest itself, rising up with a maw full of rotting wood and a reach that stretches further than it has any right to.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Shambling Mound is one of D&D's most unsettling encounters: not undead, not fiendish, just a vast and hungry plant that should not be able to move — and yet does. This sculpt captures that wrongness superbly. The hunched, lumbering body is covered in layered fibres of decaying vegetation, and one enormous arm stretches forward in a grasping, sweeping attack pose, its tip splitting into writhing tendrils. The wide-open maw — a hollow cavity lined with jagged bark-like teeth — dominates the head. It is a creature that looks like it has absorbed everything it has ever swallowed, and it is still hungry.
At the tabletop this will command space and attention. The dynamic forward-leaning pose suggests motion even at rest, and the intricate surface texture rewards careful painting — drybrushing and washes will bring out every fibrous layer and crack. It sits on a solid round base and is printed as a single piece, ready to prime straight away.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Need a memorable large-size Plant or Fey creature for swamp, forest, or Feywild encounters
- Want a centrepiece monster that will genuinely unsettle their players at the table
- Are building a nature-corrupted wilderness campaign arc or a Green Hag's lair
- Enjoy a serious painting challenge with deep texture and organic detail
- Collect display pieces that show off the range of independent sculpting talent
Encounter Hook:
The druid's grove has gone silent. Three days ago the resident circle sent a sending spell — a single word before the connection severed: roots. Now the party stands at the treeline, watching the canopy heave and sway above something enormous that has been waiting, perfectly still, for exactly as long as it takes for someone to step off the path.
