The Shambling Mound is one of tabletop gaming's most distinctive plant horrors: a living knot of animated vegetation driven by a dim and dreadful hunger. This sculpt from Monster Atlas captures that threat with remarkable detail — a broad, bark-textured torso wrapped in coiling vines, wide grasping arms trailing loose tendrils, and a cluster of brown-capped fungi sprouting from the crown of its head. The face, such as it is, is a jagged-toothed maw framed by writhing vine-tendrils, giving this creature the unsettling impression of something that has grown into menace rather than been born to it. Three render angles show the full silhouette: imposing from the front, threatening in the forward-lunging pose, and deeply unnerving in profile as those arms spread wide.

Whether you're running a swamp ambush, a Feywild incursion, or a druid-gone-wrong encounter, this miniature earns its place at the table. It also makes a striking display piece for collectors drawn to the stranger corners of the monster manual.

Suited to adventurers who:

  • Need a large plant-creature threat for forest, swamp, or Feywild encounters
  • Want a visually distinctive boss monster or encounter centrepiece
  • Enjoy painting organic textures — bark, vine, and fungal caps reward layered greens and earthy browns
  • Are building a display collection of D&D 5e monsters

Encounter Hook:
The party has been tracking a missing herbalist for two days when they find her satchel half-buried in the bog — still clasped, contents undisturbed. A patrol roll fails. The ground ahead shifts. Something that was not there a moment ago now stands between them and the treeline, and it does not wait to be addressed first.

Details

Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and base are separate pieces and can be attached with superglue — the base is designed to complement the sculpt, and the two interact visually, so we recommend using it. The miniature arrives support-free and ready for priming, painting, or straight to the table as-is.
