Description

Something vast and wrong moves through the treeline — not walking so much as surging, bark and vine and malice bound together into a shape that was never meant to exist.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Shambling Mound is one of D&D's most enduring plant-creature threats — a mass of animated vegetation driven by a dim, hungry sentience. This sculpt from Epic Miniatures captures that quality with real conviction. The body is a dense tangle of twisted bark, curling leaves, and grasping root-like fingers, all layered with the kind of organic complexity that rewards both a quick drybrush at the table and a serious display paint job. The wide-open maw, ringed with broken wood and jagged protrusions, gives the creature genuine menace — this is not a gentle guardian of the forest.

Mounted on a large 51mm base, this is a genuinely imposing model. The reaching arms are stretched wide in a grasping pose that reads instantly as a creature about to engulf something unfortunate. The rear view reveals the full mass of the creature — heavily textured bark-like armour plates across the back, trailing root-tendrils at the feet, and that characteristic hunched, forward-lurching silhouette that makes Shambling Mounds so recognisable. Painted in earthy greens and deep browns, this piece would be a striking encounter centrepiece — but even in grey resin it commands attention on the shelf.

A great choice for adventurers who:

  • Run wilderness campaigns where ancient, corrupted forests pose as much danger as any dungeon
  • Need a large-scale plant monster encounter that feels genuinely threatening at the table
  • Enjoy detailed organic sculpts as painting projects — the layered bark texture is a gift for contrast paints and washes
  • Want a display piece that earns its place on any shelf dedicated to D&D creature miniatures

Encounter Hook: The party has been following a trail of crushed undergrowth deeper into the Thornwood when the ranger notices the trees themselves have begun to move — slowly, deliberately, converging. The Shambling Mound emerges from a collapsed oak with a sound like splitting timber, drawn by the warmth of the adventurers' torches. It does not speak. It simply reaches.
