This is pose 03 of our Shambling Mound range from Novaminis, and it is arguably the most imposing of the set. Where the other variants lurch and reach, this sculpt crouches and coils — a dense, writhing mass of roots, tendrils, curled thorns and small flowers pressed into a shape that is almost bestial. The dual skull-like protrusions either side of the main mass give it a predatory, horned silhouette that reads immediately as a threat on the table, while the scattered wildflowers tucked among the vines are a wickedly unsettling touch — beauty and danger wound together in one creature.
The detail throughout is extraordinary: every tendril is individually sculpted, flowing roots drag across the ground, and curved horns of twisted wood jut outward at aggressive angles. Dungeon Masters running Feywild campaigns, swamp encounters, or corrupted forest arcs will find this sculpt equally at home as a wandering monster, a guardian of cursed ground, or the physical manifestation of a forest gone horribly wrong. It makes for a striking display piece too, with four distinct silhouettes depending on the angle — none of them friendly.
Well suited for adventurers who:
- Run Feywild, swamp, or corrupted forest encounters in D&D 5e or other TTRPGs
- Need a Large-scale plant monster that reads as genuinely threatening on the board
- Want a statement display piece that rewards viewing from every angle
- Are building out a full Shambling Mound collection across multiple poses
- Enjoy painting highly textured organic sculpts with layered washes and contrast paints
Encounter Hook:
The village druid has not been seen in three days. The party follows her trail into the bogwood and finds her staff — snapped cleanly — half-buried in the mud. The undergrowth nearby smells of wildflowers. Then the earth shifts, and two skull-like shapes rise from the mass of roots ahead, turning slowly in the party's direction.
Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base comes unattached and can be affixed with a small amount of glue. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming, or display as-is straight from the box. Support marks are removed as standard; minor surface artefacts from the print process may occasionally be present and are easily tidied up.
