This is pose 01 of our Shambling Mound range by Novaminis, and it is a creature that earns its Challenge Rating on presence alone. Every surface of this sculpt is a tangle of grasping roots, coiling vines, and barbed tendril-limbs — the kind of organic chaos that rewards a careful painter with endless texture and depth. The hunched, forward-leaning silhouette suggests something mid-lurch, as though it has just sensed warm blood nearby and is already moving to engulf it. Those curved fang-like protrusions at the front give it a maw of sorts, and the whole mass reads as both plant and predator — exactly as a Shambling Mound should.
Whether you place it lurking in a fetid bog, rising from the undergrowth of a cursed forest, or erupting from the floor of a lightning-struck dungeon chamber, this miniature brings genuine menace to the table. It works equally well as a wandering encounter monster, a corrupted guardian of some ancient druidic site, or the centrepiece of a swamp-themed boss encounter. Display collectors will find it holds up beautifully on a shelf — the layered sculpt catches light from every angle.
Well suited for adventurers who:
- Run swamp, forest, or Feywild encounters and want a creature with genuine visual threat
- Need a Large-category plant monster with strong table presence
- Enjoy detailed organic sculpts with rich texture for drybrushing and wet blending
- Collect display miniatures from independent fantasy sculptors
Encounter Hook:
The druid circle's sacred grove has gone silent — no birdsong, no insects, no wind through the leaves. At the centre, where the elder tree once stood, something has taken root that was never planted. It is still absorbing the last druid when the party arrives, and it turns with a sound like a thousand roots tearing free of soil.
Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base ships unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. Some minor post-processing marks are possible given the complexity of organic sculpts; these are easily tidied up before priming. The piece is fully cured and ready for your hobby desk.
