The Shadow Demon is one of D&D's most visually unsettling creatures — a fiend that exists as pure malevolence given shadowy form. Novaminis' sculpt captures that quality with real conviction. The body tapers into a swirling, smoky lower half rather than standing on solid legs, giving the figure a sense of hovering, restless menace. The broad batwings are torn and ragged at the edges, each one textured with the kind of organic corruption you'd expect from something born in the Abyss. Reaching claws extend from spindly arms, and the horned head is thrown slightly back — open-mouthed, as though mid-shriek or savouring the darkness around it.

This is the second sculpt (02) in Novaminis' Shadow Demon range, and where the first may differ in stance or attitude, this variation leans into dynamic, upswept energy — wings aloft, tendrils whipping outward, every line of the sculpt suggesting something in the act of manifesting. It reads brilliantly from across the table and has the depth of detail that rewards careful brush work — deep undercuts in the wings, a rippling shadowy torso, and a face that will take a wash and dry-brush beautifully to emphasise the hollow features.

For painters, the sculpt is a gift.
