Scarecrow Mimic by Mia Kay M3DM

It stood motionless at the edge of the field for three days before anyone noticed the farmer had stopped coming home.

Mimics don't limit themselves to treasure chests — and Mia Kay M3DM's Scarecrow Mimic is proof of exactly that. This sculpt captures the creature mid-reveal: the woven straw body erupts with jagged teeth, coiling rope-like tendrils, and spiked details that betray the predator beneath the disguise. Broken wooden posts and wild stalks burst from the scenic base, while a wailing ghostly face emerges from the earth below, hinting at previous victims who never made it past the field's edge. It is the sort of miniature that makes your players deeply uncomfortable the moment it lands on the table — which is precisely the point.

The detail work throughout is exceptional. Tightly-plaited wicker texture wraps the torso and limbs, contrasting sharply with the fraying straw that spills from every joint. The wide-brimmed hat sits askew over a hollow skull-like face, and the outstretched arms convey the classic, unsettling silhouette of a scarecrow — right up until it doesn't anymore. This is a creature designed to be placed in plain sight long before combat begins, rewarding Dungeon Masters who love environmental storytelling.

This miniature is multipart and comes with your choice of base: a sculpted decorative base featuring the broken timber and haunted ground scenery shown in the images, a plain round base for those who prefer to build their own scene, or no base at all for diorama builders and custom display work.

Suited for adventurers who:

• Run harvest-season horror sessions, cursed farmland encounters, or Ravenloft-adjacent campaigns
• Love the moment players second-guess every piece of scenery on the table
• Want a mimic variant that breaks free from the dungeon and brings the threat outdoors
• Are building a display piece that rewards close inspection — every rope, tooth and tendril is there to be painted

Encounter Hook

As the party cuts across the cornfields towards the village, one of them notices the scarecrow at the field's centre has shifted since they last looked. It's closer now. And its hat is slightly different. Roll for initiative — and watch everyone suddenly distrust every piece of terrain on the board.
