This is the second sculpt in The Toadstool Weaver's Scarecrow range, and it cuts a distinctly menacing silhouette. Where the first pose might suggest something dormant, this one is all forward momentum — a jack-o'-lantern head twisted into a hollow grin, body wrapped tight in rope and stitched cloth, and a gnarled scythe levelled with unsettling intent. The detail work is exceptional: frayed ruffles at the collar, visible stitching across the torso and limbs, straw-stuffed fabric bunched and bound, and a wooden post of a leg that makes it clear this thing was never truly human to begin with. It's the kind of construct that suggests something dark animated it — and something darker still directs it.
For Dungeon Masters, this scarecrow works equally well as a wandering guardian, a Fey-cursed field sentinel, or the centrepiece of a Ravenloft harvest festival gone terribly wrong. Collectors will appreciate the sculptural quality — this one earns its place on a display shelf as readily as on a battlemap.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Need an unsettling construct or undead encounter for a rural or horror-themed campaign
- Are running a Ravenloft, harvest horror, or dark Feywild arc
- Want a second scarecrow variant to pair with Scarecrow #1 for a field of terrors
- Paint character-driven miniatures and enjoy intricate surface textures
- Collect display-quality fantasy miniatures
Encounter Hook:
The village elder swears the scarecrows in the eastern field have been there for generations — but the oldest villager can only account for three of them, and she counts seven when she dares to look. When the party investigates at dusk, one of the seven is carrying a scythe it wasn't holding that morning.
Details
Printed at 32mm scale. Available with or without a plain black base — the base ships unattached and can be secured with a small amount of glue. Support marks may occasionally be present from the printing process; these are minor and easily tidied up before priming.
