Saburo Ryu, the Lone Dragon, is a grizzled samurai veteran whose every detail speaks to a life forged in conflict. His layered lamellar armour is wrapped with thick rope bindings across the torso and legs — the mark of a warrior who has repaired his kit in the field more times than he can count. He holds a long katana extended across his body in a measured, deliberate guard stance, while a shorter wakizashi rests at his hip ready for the draw. His weathered face, close-cropped beard, and swept-back hair carry the quiet intensity of a man who has long since stopped counting enemies. The sculpted base depicts shattered stone and rubble — the aftermath of a fight already won.
From the back, the detail is just as considered: a bold clan medallion is embossed across the armour's dorsal plate, the rope wrappings continue down to the greaves, and every panel of scale and chainmail is rendered with precision. Whether you're placing him on the battlefield as a formidable NPC swordmaster or using him to represent a Fighter, Monk, or Kensei on your tabletop, Saburo Ryu commands attention from every angle. He works equally well as a gaming piece and as a display miniature on your shelf.
A character for adventurers who want:
- A morally complex samurai NPC — a ronin, a rival blade-for-hire, or a fallen champion
- A Fighter, Monk, or Kensei class miniature with a strong Eastern-inspired aesthetic
- A named villain or quest-giver with unmistakable presence at the table
- A display-worthy sculpt with exceptional armour and weapon detail
Encounter Hook:
The party arrives at a mountain village to find a single figure standing in the centre of the road — Saburo Ryu, katana drawn, surrounded by the unconscious bodies of six bandits. He turns to face them, sheathes his blade without breaking eye contact, and says only: "You're late." Whether he's been waiting for them specifically, or simply assumes every capable-looking group owes him something, is for your table to decide.
Details
Saburo Ryu is supplied at 32mm scale. The model and scenic rubble base are separate pieces and can be attached with super glue — the base is designed to complement the sculpt's stance, so we recommend using it. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming. As with all hand-checked resin prints, minor marks may occasionally be present and are easily addressed before painting.
