This charming chibi salamander sculpt by Mia Kay M3DM captures the creature in a languid, low-slung resting pose — sprawled across a decorative oval base adorned with a carved lily pad, budding water flowers, and scattered lily buds. Two variations are available: one with a smoother, more stylised profile and one with a more detailed head featuring wide expressive eyes and delicate ear-like frills. Both share the same relaxed, belly-down pose with a long tapering tail curling to one side.
The sculpt leans into a whimsical naturalist aesthetic — this is not a monster to be feared, but a creature of the wetlands to be encountered, observed, or perhaps befriended. Whether you see it as a druid's companion, a magical familiar, a woodland spirit, or simply a delightful piece of swamp scatter, it brings genuine character to any table.
The base detailing — particularly the lily pad relief and clustered buds — gives painters a wealth of texture to work with, from deep swamp greens and earthy browns to more fantastical colour schemes for those who want something otherworldly.
Well suited to adventurers who:
- Play or DM nature-themed campaigns with druids, rangers, or fey wilderness encounters
- Want a distinctive familiar or companion creature for a druid or ranger character
- Are building out swamp, marshland, or forest terrain with atmospheric creature scatter
- Enjoy painting small-scale naturalist miniatures with rich surface detail
- Collect chibi-style fantasy creatures for display alongside larger miniatures
Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a will-o'-wisp through the Thornmire Fens for three days when their guide stops abruptly. At her feet, a small salamander sits on a submerged lily pad, staring up at the group. The guide goes pale. In these marshes, the old folk say, salamanders only appear when the bog itself is trying to tell you something. The creature does not flee. It simply watches — and then slowly turns its head south, away from the path the party planned to take.
