He's sailed seas that would break lesser men, and lost a leg doing it — but his eyes are still sharp, still scanning the horizon for the next landfall or the next threat.

Sailor 04 is a grizzled veteran of the open water — a bare-chested old sea dog with a battered tricorn hat, a rope belt, and a wooden peg leg that tells its own story. He stands with one hand raised to shade his weathered eyes, peering into the distance with the calm confidence of someone who has seen far worse than whatever's coming. His loose, roughly stitched shirt hangs open at the chest, and the detail on his scraggly beard and weathered face gives him real character and personality.

This is the fourth variation in Novaminis' Sailor series, and where some of the other sculpts lean into action or menace, Sailor 04 has the energy of a veteran quartermaster or harbour lookout — the kind of NPC who knows every reef, every smuggling route, and every corrupt harbormaster from here to the Isle of Storms. He'd sit perfectly alongside a ship's crew, a dockside gang, or a pirate warband, but he's also a compelling enough sculpt to work as a player character — perhaps a Fighter or Rogue who carries the sea in their bones.

The peg leg is a particularly well-executed detail, carved and shaped rather than just a simple cylinder, and his pose — weight slightly back, one hand aloft — gives the mini a natural, lived-in quality that rewards careful painting.

A great choice for adventurers who:

  • Run nautical or pirate-themed campaigns and need NPC crew members with genuine character
  • Want a distinctive, story-rich sculpt for a sea-faring Fighter, Rogue, or Ranger PC
  • Are building out a dockside or harbour encounter with a mix of sailors and rough-and-ready types
  • Enjoy painting characterful humanoid minis with expressive faces and textured clothing
  • Are collecting the full Novaminis Sailor series across all four variants

Encounter Hook: The party's ship has been shadowed for two days by a vessel flying no colours. When they finally make port at Saltmarrow, a one-legged old sailor at the end of the dock stops them cold. He's seen the ship before — and he knows what it wants. But getting the story out of him will take a drink, some coin, and a DC 15 Persuasion check he won't make easy.
