Description

At the edge of the village, where the road narrows and the treeline looms, a row of weathered wooden stakes lashed with rope marks the last boundary between the settled and the wild.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

These rustic fence pieces by Mia Kay M3DM bring instant life and texture to any tabletop encounter — from a remote farmstead on the edge of a goblin-raided forest to the crumbling boundary walls of an abandoned settlement deep in the wilderness. The sculpts feature rough-hewn wooden stakes bound together with coiled rope, with tufts of scrubby grass and small ground details growing up around the base. Every surface is packed with character: the stakes are weathered and uneven, the rope shows realistic twists and knots, and the whole piece carries that unmistakable feel of something built by hand from whatever was to hand.

The set includes two distinct pieces — a large fence section featuring five full-height stakes bound with double rows of rope across a wide base, and a small fence section with two shorter stakes at staggered heights, representing a damaged, partial, or far-edge section of the same boundary. Together they give Dungeon Masters the flexibility to define a clear perimeter, suggest a broken-down boundary, or scatter them around the edges of a map for environmental storytelling. Either piece works equally well defining the edge of a farmyard, marking the entrance to a druid's sacred ground, or serving as cover during a skirmish in the grasslands.

Both sizes have been photographed as unpainted grey resin prints alongside a standard D20 for scale — the large section is a solid, table-presence piece, while the small section sits lower and is well suited to half-grid placements or broken terrain effects.

These terrain pieces are well suited to adventurers who:

  • Run campaigns with rural settlements, frontier towns, or wilderness travel
  • Want versatile scatter terrain that works across multiple settings and scenarios
  • Like to define their maps with environmental boundaries rather than open-edge tables
  • Build and paint display dioramas with a lived-in, handcrafted aesthetic
  • Need quick cover or difficult terrain markers with genuine visual weight

Encounter Hook: The party approaches the village of Millhaven at dusk — but the outer fence line, which should ring the entire eastern pasture, has been torn apart in three places. Something large passed through here, and recently. As the ranger crouches to examine the broken stakes, the rope is not snapped — it's been carefully unknotted from the outside.
