Description

The clatter of corroding armour is the first warning — by the time adventurers smell the acrid tang in the air, it's already too late for whatever the fighter was wearing.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Few creatures inspire quite the same specific dread as the Rust Monster. It won't eat you — it just eats everything protecting you. This sculpt by MZ4250 captures the creature's distinctive insectoid form with satisfying fidelity: the broad, segmented carapace bristling with dorsal spines, the wide fan-like wings splayed to either side, the wickedly curved antennae sweeping forward, and the trademark paddle-tipped tail raised in that casual, devastating arc. Six articulated legs anchor it low to the ground in a prowling, predatory crouch — this is a creature that knows exactly what it wants, and your party's metal equipment is very much on the menu.

The sculpt rewards a careful paint job. The layered carapace segments offer excellent texture for drybrushing, while the feathered wing surfaces and spined ridges give plenty of contrast opportunities. Rust-toned browns and oranges with a verdigris wash across the antennae and tail tip will sell the creature's corrosive nature immediately — though an albino cave-dwelling variant in pale greys and yellows would be equally atmospheric. Whether you're running a classic dungeon crawl or a homebrew encounter designed to make your martials weep, this miniature earns its place at the table.

Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Want to watch the look on a fighter's face when they realise their +2 longsword is now a pile of rust
  • Are running classic dungeon delves with a strong roster of iconic monsters
  • Enjoy painting highly textured arthropod creatures with layered carapace detail
  • Collect core D&D monstrosities for display or encounter use

Encounter Hook

The party descends into the abandoned mine seeking the stolen shipment of dwarven steel — but something has been here first. Every iron tool, every pickaxe head, every chain and bolt in the tunnels has been reduced to orange powder. Then comes the skittering from the dark, and a pair of sweeping antennae catch the torchlight. Whatever took the steel hasn't left yet.
