The Ruin Grinder is a construct of immense, brooding presence: a barrel-headed war machine crowned with a guttering flame, its broad armoured torso engraved with flowing organic runes that suggest something older and stranger than typical clockwork artifice. Massive gear-ringed pauldrons frame a chest plated in overlapping armour, and its enormous gauntleted fists — each one layered with mechanical segmented plating — hang low, knuckles nearly brushing the ground in a posture that reads less as aggression and more as patient, inescapable inevitability.
Whether you're placing it as a guardian construct at the heart of an ancient arcane laboratory, a rogue automaton in a ruined city district, or a Warforged-adjacent boss encounter, the Ruin Grinder brings a distinctive, character-rich silhouette to the table. Equally at home on a display shelf as on a battlemat — this is a centrepiece construct that rewards both the painter's brush and the Dungeon Master's imagination.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Run encounters featuring arcane constructs, clockwork guardians, or animated war machines
- Need a large, imposing boss monster for dungeon delves or ruined city adventures
- Want a display piece that doubles as a conversation-starting tabletop centrepiece
- Are building a Ravnica, Eberron, or artificer-themed campaign and need a centrepiece enemy
- Love painting intricate armour and organic-mechanical engraving detail
Encounter Hook:
The party has spent three sessions hunting the source of the elemental disturbances in the Greywood — and now, emerging from the rubble of a half-collapsed vaulted chamber, they find it: a construct the size of a draft horse, its barrel-top crown still trailing arcane flame, its deep-grooved rune-armour cracked but functional. A scroll on the shattered altar behind it reads "Obey only the Archmage Varanthos." Varanthos has been dead for four hundred years. The machine has been waiting.
Details
Printed at 32mm scale. Supplied unpainted and ready for priming. The model and base are separate pieces — a small amount of super glue will bring them together securely. Please note that some models interact with their base in a way that enhances the overall composition, so we recommend attaching the base for the best visual result. Minor support marks may occasionally be present but are easily removed during prep.
