This is the Rough Shelter 01 from Novaminis, a compact camp structure built from stitched and patched hide panels lashed to a timber frame with thick rope. A skull sits propped on one corner post — not decoration so much as a warning. The sagging cloth panels hang open on one side, knotted up with braided cord, suggesting whoever built this wanted a quick exit route. It has the look of a goblin den, a bandit's overnight camp, or the kind of makeshift structure your players discover at the edge of a hex they really shouldn't have wandered into.
As scatter terrain, it works equally well dropped into a wilderness encounter, placed at the edge of a ruined settlement, or used to mark a faction's claimed territory on a larger battle map. Whether your party is sneaking past it or breaching it at midnight, it gives the scene a layer of lived-in grime that flat tiles simply can't.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Run wilderness, tribal, or bandit camp encounters and want terrain with real character
- Build immersive 32mm battle maps for D&D 5e or other TTRPGs
- Collect and paint scatter terrain pieces for diorama setups and display
- Want a cover object that tells a story without needing a word of explanation
Encounter Hook:
The ranger makes a DC 13 Perception check and spots three things: the skull on the post is too clean to have been there long, the rope knots are tied left-handed, and there's a smear of something dark on the inside of the hanging panel that the torchlight only half-illuminates. Whoever left this camp wants people to find it — the question is why.
Scaled to 32mm and supplied ready for priming and painting, or useable straight from the box as-is. A plain black base option is available at checkout — if selected, it arrives unattached and can be secured with a small amount of glue. Some minor clean-up may be needed as a natural result of the printing process; any minor marks are easily tidied up before painting.
