Roper MM2025 by MZ4250

Disguised as a stalactite in the cavern ceiling, the roper waits — patient, ancient, and ravenous — for the next party of adventurers to wander within reach of its lashing tendrils.

• ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
• ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
• ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
• ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Few monsters capture the alien wrongness of the Underdark quite like the roper. A cone of ridged, bark-like hide tapers upward to a single unblinking eye and a gaping, tooth-ringed maw — and from that hunched body erupt long, whipping tendrils that coil with predatory intent. This sculpt by MZ4250 captures every grim detail: the deep-furrowed texture of the creature's stony hide, the glistening, hollow eye socket, the layered rings of jagged teeth framing that cavernous maw, and the sinuous, reaching tentacles that fan out like a grotesque crown.

The roper's genius as an encounter monster lies in its mimicry. It looks like part of the dungeon — until it doesn't. On the table, this miniature is every bit as unsettling as it should be. Whether you're springing an ambush on your party mid-passage or placing it as a lair guardian, the sculpt communicates threat the moment it hits the mat. The multipart design allows for careful assembly and lets the sweeping tentacles be positioned to maximum dramatic effect.

Equally compelling on a display shelf, the roper rewards a detailed paint job. A palette of cold stone greys, bone-white teeth, and a luminous amber or pale green eye will do wonders — and the deeply textured hide takes washes and drybrushing beautifully.

Two variants are available for this sculpt:

• Standard Roper — the creature in full predatory display, eye open, maw agape, tentacles extended and coiled
• Hiding Roper — the closed-up, dormant form, mimicking a stalagmite or rocky outcrop with no visible eye or mouth; use it as terrain until the trap is sprung

Recommended for adventurers who:

• Love springing ambush encounters on unsuspecting parties
• Want to populate their Underdark campaigns with genuinely unsettling monsters
• Enjoy detailed paint projects with rich surface texture
• Are building a cave or dungeon display diorama with centrepiece creatures
• Need a monster that doubles as scenery until the moment it strikes

Encounter Hook: The passage through the Sunken Vaults has been quiet — too quiet. When the party's rogue notices that one of the stalactites in the vaulted chamber ahead is slightly too symmetrical, it's already too late. The roper has been here for three centuries. It has learned patience. It is very, very hungry.
