The Riverstalkers, known in the oldest coastal texts as the Ertkener, are aberrant predators sculpted by whatever wrongness festers at the bottom of forgotten waterways. These two variants show the full horror of the species: one hunched and advancing, barnacle-crusted plates fused to its torso, its coral-riddled arms reaching forward with slow, deliberate menace; the other rearing tall and skeletal-faced, antler-like protrusions erupting from its skull, clawed limbs spread as if savouring the moment before the strike. Both are covered in the unmistakeable texture of a creature that has spent aeons in the deep — studded hide, layered carapace, and limbs that look as though the sea itself grew them into this shape.
The detail across both sculpts is exceptional. Ribbed musculature, encrusted surfaces, webbed feet gripping rubble and coral debris — these are creatures with genuine ecological character, not simply generic monsters. Whether you're using them as the centrepiece of a coastal horror arc, a corrupted river-god encounter, or a pair of elite aberrations guarding a sunken ruin, the Ertkener command the table the moment they hit the mat.
A worthy addition for adventurers who:
- Run coastal, aquatic, or deep-wilderness campaigns needing a memorable boss or elite threat
- Want aberration-type monsters with genuinely distinctive design rather than off-the-shelf fiends
- Are collectors drawn to creatures with real sculptural craft and unusual anatomy
- Need a high-impact centrepiece mini for a horror or investigation arc involving corrupted waterways
Encounter Hook:
The village of Dunmore's Reach has been losing fisherfolk for three weeks. The nets come back torn from something below — not bitten, torn, as if something with too many fingers went through them. The party follows the river upstream and finds the mill dam broken, the water running black, and two Ertkener standing in the shallows, utterly still, watching the treeline as though they already knew you were coming.
Both miniatures are printed at 32mm scale. Each model and its scenic base — featuring coral debris, rock formations, and ocean-floor detritus — are supplied as separate pieces for straightforward assembly with superglue. The bases are designed to complement each specific pose and the models interact naturally with them, so we recommend attaching both. Supplied unprimed and unpainted, ready for your brushwork or striking straight out of the box as display pieces.
