Crocodiles are a staple hazard of rivers, swamps, and jungle waterways — but this sculpt from Epic Miniatures gives the classic beast genuine menace. The River Crocodile Attacking is caught mid-aggression: body low and coiled, tail curled inward, head rearing with jaws thrown wide to reveal rows of thick, serrated teeth. A prominent ridge of dorsal spines runs the full length of the spine, giving this crocodile a wilder, more monstrous edge than a simple natural animal — it reads equally well as a mundane beast or a magically enhanced swamp predator.
The sculpt sits on a large 51mm oval base, which suits its elongated, low-slung form. Scaled plating covers the body with excellent surface texture — deep, irregular hide across the flanks, overlapping armour-like scales around the neck, and sharp clawed feet gripping the ground. Every panel of this creature rewards careful painting, from the darker dorsal ridges to the paler underbelly. Whether you're laying down naturalistic greens and tans or going full swamp-monster with bioluminescent accents, there's plenty of surface detail to work with.
This listing offers two base variants: a plain base and a decorative base, so you can choose whichever suits your basing style or gaming setup. Both the supported and unsupported print files are available, giving you full flexibility in how you approach the build.
Well suited to adventurers who:
- Run river crossing encounters that need a genuine physical threat on the table
- Want a large beast miniature that doubles as a display painting project
- Are building out a swamp, jungle, or aquatic encounter roster
- Need a creature that could serve as a giant crocodile, a swamp drake, or even a small sea serpent with the right paint scheme
Encounter Hook
The party is halfway across the rope bridge when the river below erupts — the crocodile that's been shadowing them since the jungle's edge has finally decided to act. With the bridge swaying and two characters already grappling with the fraying ropes, the beast targets the weakest-looking ankle dangling above the water. Initiative, please.
