Quorenderi's Razor is the dedicated blade of the Deep One's cult — an executioner who has long since abandoned any identity beyond the will of his abyssal patron. He stands in unhurried stillness, robes layered and frayed at the hem like something dredged from dark water, his face concealed beneath a tightly wound hood that betrays no feature, no expression, and no mercy. Thick ropes bind his waist, a small ceremonial bell hanging at his centre — a detail at once ritualistic and deeply unsettling. His pauldrons are segmented and heavy, wrapped in cord, giving him the silhouette of a figure dressed for a procession rather than a slaughter. That distinction, of course, is merely academic.
He carries twin blades — one swept and heavy like a sacrificial cleaver, the other a cruel curved instrument of finishing work — and he holds both without urgency. The sculpt captures the most dangerous kind of villain: one who is not angry, not frenzied, simply committed. Beneath his feet, the scenic base grounds the scene entirely: a screaming severed head, mouth open in the last syllable of a plea he never finished, set into broken stone rubble. The narrative is complete before a single die is rolled.
The detail across the model rewards painters at every level. The layered robe textures shift from structured linen at the chest to ragged, almost organic fraying at the hem. The rope work is crisp throughout — individually wound cords on the wrists, a braided sash, and the knotted ceremonial tassel hanging from the bell. The hood's tight weave pattern is equally well-resolved, and the back of the model is just as characterful as the front, with the multi-layered ruffled collar fanning out in structured pleats that would take a dry-brush treatment beautifully.
As a display piece, this miniature has strong centrepiece energy — the scenic base, ceremonial costume, and composed stance make it a compelling painting project as well as a formidable table presence.
- Dungeon Masters building a secret society or Deep One cult around a central executioner figure
- Adventurers who want a high-detail BBEG or recurring villain with genuine visual menace
- Painters drawn to layered fabric, rope texture, and atmospheric monochrome palette opportunities
- Anyone running a Ravenloft, Shadowfell, or abyssal horror campaign that needs a named face for evil
Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a string of disappearances in the city of Westlook. Each victim was a witness to something they should not have seen — and each was found headless, a small bell left beside the body. Now, in the candlelit basement of a chandler's shop, the door opens without sound, and a figure in frayed robes steps inside, twin blades already drawn, the bell at his belt perfectly, terribly still.
