Few creatures inspire dread quite like the Purple Worm. A titan of the deep places — blind, relentless, and driven by an appetite that carves tunnels through solid rock — it is one of D&D's most iconic apex predators and a landmark encounter for any party bold enough to venture into the Underdark. This sculpt from MZ4250 captures the creature mid-surge, erupting from rubble-strewn ground with its vast, gaping maw wide open and rows of backward-curving fangs on full display.

The body is a masterclass in organic armour design: thick, overlapping chitin segments run the length of the worm's form, each edged with wicked lateral spines. Dorsal spikes crown the enormous head, while a pair of barbed foreclaws extend forward — giving the impression of a creature that tears through earth and adventurer alike with equal indifference. The rocky scatter base adds tremendous presence, selling the sense of something enormous forcing its way up from below.

Whether you're running a harrowing Underdark delve, a Downtime disaster, or simply want one of the game's most feared monstrosities anchoring your display shelf, this sculpt delivers the scale and menace the Purple Worm deserves.

This miniature is well suited to adventurers who:

  • Are planning an Underdark campaign with high-stakes creature encounters
  • Need a formidable boss-level beast to terrify a mid-to-high-level party
  • Want a centrepiece model that commands attention on a display shelf
  • Love painting large, textured creatures with interesting organic surface detail
  • Are building out a collection of classic D&D 5e Monster Manual creatures

Encounter Hook

The party has been hired to escort a mining crew through a newly opened passage beneath the Greypeak Mountains — but three days in, the foreman's daily log abruptly ends mid-sentence. When the adventurers reach the site, they find tools scattered, a collapsed support beam, and a tunnel wall that wasn't there yesterday. Then the floor shifts beneath them.

Details

This listing is for one unpainted resin miniature of the Purple Worm, as pictured. The sculpt is multipart and will require assembly before painting. Supplied without a pre-attached base — the scenic base shown is part of the sculpt. No painting or assembly materials are included.
