Short, stocky, and radiating the weary authority of someone who has thrown out far bigger folk than you, the Pugfolk Tavernkeeper is one of those NPCs who can anchor an entire campaign. Dressed in rough working clothes cinched with a worn belt, a flat cap perched between his floppy ears, and a sturdy wooden tankard clutched in one meaty hand, he looks like a character who has been propping up his own bar since before the party was born. The scowl is permanent, the hospitality is negotiable, and the ale is probably fine.
This is a wonderfully expressive sculpt — the jowled face carries bags of character, and the crossed-arms-meets-tankard pose captures that classic innkeeper energy: not hostile, exactly, but absolutely watching you. Whether you use him as a beloved recurring NPC, a surprisingly well-connected information broker, or the gruff heart of your town's social hub, he earns his place at any tabletop. Equally at home on a display shelf as he is on the gaming table.
Perfect for adventurers who:- Need a memorable, characterful NPC to anchor a tavern or settlement
- Are running urban campaigns, trading town encounters, or homebrew social hubs
- Want a beastfolk humanoid with genuine personality on the tabletop
- Collect and paint anthropomorphic fantasy character minis
Encounter Hook:
The party has been asking around town for a fence who deals in stolen relics — and every lead ends at the same place: a squat pug-folk in a flat cap who slides tankards across the bar without making eye contact, and who has apparently never heard of anything, ever, in his entire life. Getting him to talk will require either a very good Persuasion roll or something considerably more interesting than coin.
