Big Hat Harrison — Professor of the Unknown — is a wizard who has clearly looked too long into the spaces between spells. The sculpt captures him mid-incantation, body low and wide-stanced as though bracing against the very forces he is unleashing. Two writhing, tendril-like streams of arcane energy spiral outward from both hands, their organic, almost serpentine forms suggesting something far stranger than a simple fireball. The detail on those energy tendrils is remarkable — layered, textured coils that reward careful painting, whether you choose ethereal purples, sickly greens, or crackling gold.

His wide-brimmed witch's hat — the titular big hat — dominates his silhouette, its drooping tip curled at a jaunty angle and banded with arcane script. Beneath it, his face is obscured by shadow, lending Harrison an air of deliberate mystery. His layered coat is heavily detailed with buckles, pouches, a prominent arcane medallion on his chest, and a fleur-de-lis embossed clasp on his billowing cape. The cape itself, rendered in fine woven texture visible from the reverse, sweeps dramatically behind him as if caught in the wake of his own spellcasting. Wrapped legs and worn boots complete a look that sits somewhere between academic eccentric and genuinely dangerous field mage.

The sculpt is from DM Stash's The Arcane University collection — a setting packed with scholarly spellcasters, arcane institutions, and the kind of morally ambiguous professors who give their students homework that occasionally fights back. Harrison fits beautifully as a recurring NPC: a mentor, a rival, a quest-giver with ulterior motives, or the final reveal behind a semester's worth of strange magical incidents. He also serves as a compelling player character miniature for any Wizard, Warlock, or Sorcerer who favours theatrical casting and questionable academic ethics.

Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Need a powerful and distinctive arcane spellcaster for their campaign
  • Are running a magic academy, arcane university, or scholarly setting
  • Want a Wizard or Warlock PC mini with genuine presence and character
  • Are building a collection of eccentric, lore-rich NPC casters
  • Enjoy a painting project with dynamic energy effects and rich cloth texture

Encounter Hook

The party arrives at the Arcane University seeking the one professor rumoured to have mapped the boundaries of the Astral Sea — only to find his lecture hall in disarray, three students frozen mid-scream, and Big Hat Harrison himself crouched at the centre of a chalk circle, both hands outstretched as two writhing arcs of silver energy circle him like orbiting moons. He turns slowly. "Ah," he says. "Office hours. I did forget."
