Mortimer Who Danced With Death is no ordinary sword-for-hire. A Professional Hexhunter from DM Stash's Crimson Masquerade range, this miniature captures a fighter who straddles the line between mortal and something far more unsettling. He crouches in a wide combat stance, a broad two-handed sword levelled with lethal precision, his long hair wild and his face half-concealed behind a cloth mask. Spiked pauldrons, layered armour straps, pouches and tools of the trade adorn his frame — every detail speaking to a man who has made a profession of hunting down hexes, curses, and the wretched things that cast them. His eyes burn red beneath that dark fringe, hinting that the line between hunter and hunted has long since blurred.

Whether you use him as a veteran NPC with a deeply complicated past, a rival hexhunter who crosses paths with the party at the worst possible moment, or a player character rooted in shadow and steel, Mortimer brings a compelling edge to any table. He's equally at home as a brooding anti-hero in a Gothic horror campaign or a morally grey contractor in an urban intrigue setting. The sculpt is equally rewarding for display collectors — the dynamic pose and richly detailed armour make him a centrepiece worth painting with care.

Well suited to adventurers who:

  • Want a Fighter or Ranger PC with a dark, monster-hunting backstory
  • Need a named NPC rival, contractor, or ambiguous ally for their campaign
  • Are running Gothic horror, dark fantasy, or intrigue-heavy TTRPG arcs
  • Collect display miniatures from independent fantasy sculptors

Encounter Hook:
The party arrives at a village cursed by a hedge witch — only to find Mortimer already there, the witch's body cold and a contract already marked complete. He eyes the adventurers with the quiet calculation of a man who has seen too many amateurs blunder into his work. He'll answer three questions, for a price, before vanishing into the tree line with his sword across his back and blood on his boots. Who hired him first — and why don't they want the party to know?
