Description
Where the river bends and the old trees thin, locals speak in hushed voices of the Piasa — a creature that is no single thing, but all the worst things at once.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Piasa is one of those creatures that defies easy categorisation — and that is precisely what makes it so compelling at the table. Rooted in Algonquian legend, this chimeric predator combines a mane-bearded humanoid face frozen in a roaring snarl, the scaled body and broad wings of a great raptor, pronged stag antlers rising from its brow, and a long serpentine tail that curls behind it as it descends. It is simultaneously familiar and deeply wrong, which is exactly the reaction you want when you drop it on the battlemat.
This sculpt from MZ4250 captures the Piasa mid-dive, wings fully spread and claws extended — a pose that conveys raw aerial momentum. The feather-scale texture across the wings and torso is rendered with real conviction, and the antlers have enough weight to them that they read clearly even at 32mm scale. The roaring face is the centrepiece: expressive, fierce, and unmistakably predatory. On a shelf, this is a striking display piece. On the table, it will make your players very aware of the open sky above them.
Particularly well suited for adventurers who:
- Run wilderness or river-country campaigns where legend and real danger are hard to distinguish
- Want a genuinely distinctive flying monstrosity that isn't a wyvern, manticore, or hippogriff
- Are looking for a centrepiece creature for a high-level outdoor encounter
- Enjoy painting complex multi-texture minis — feathers, scales, fur, and bone all in one sculpt
- Collect mythologically inspired creatures from beyond the standard D&D bestiary
Encounter Hook: The party is escorting a river barge through the Greymist Gorge when the barge master goes pale at something carved into the cliff face — a painted figure, antlered and winged, marked with warnings in an old tongue. That night, a lookout vanishes without a sound. By morning, something has circled the camp three times and not landed. The Piasa is watching, and it has been watching this valley for centuries.
