Pavise shields were the unsung heroes of medieval warfare — great standing barriers of wood and iron that gave archers and crossbowmen a fighting chance in open ground. These three sculpts from Novaminis capture that battered, hard-used quality brilliantly. Each shield tells its own story: one bears the deep scratches and dents of prolonged siege, another shows the tight grain of planked timber reinforced with a grid of bronze rivets, and the third carries the rough texture of a shield that has taken more than its share of punishment. All three stand on their own wooden A-frame props, ready to be planted on a battlefield, a siege line, or a fortified market square.
Whether you're running a skirmish encounter on the walls of a contested city or dressing a warband's encampment, these pavises bring immediate visual grounding to the scene. They work equally well as functional scatter terrain during play or as characterful display pieces for collectors who appreciate a well-worn piece of historical fantasy kit. This is Variation 01 of the Pavise Shields range — a set of three distinct sculpts in a single listing.

Encounter Hook:
The party rounds the corner of the market district to find a line of mercenary crossbowmen crouched behind a row of battered pavise shields, bolts already nocked — the Duke's men have been waiting for them, and the alley offers no cover.
This set includes three pavise shield sculpts, each on its own A-frame prop stand. Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base is supplied unattached and can be fixed with a small amount of glue. These arrive ready for priming and painting, though they carry excellent detail unpainted as well. As with all hand-finished pieces, minor surface variations may occur and are easily touched up.
