Valerie — known as the Gilded Oath — is a paladin who carries herself not with arrogance but with absolute, immovable conviction. Her sculpt by Dungeons & Maidens captures that quality precisely: she stands with a mace resting at her side and a round shield slung across her back, her expression composed and watchful, her long robes edged with knotwork detail that speaks to years of devoted service. This is not a warrior in the heat of battle — this is a holy knight who has already decided the outcome.

The sculpt rewards a methodical painter. The quilted mantle layered over her robes offers excellent texture contrast against the smoothly draped fabric below, while the ornate mace head and engraved shield face are well-suited to NMM or OSL techniques. Her long, gently windswept hair frames a face with a calm, steely quality that reads clearly even at table distance. The scenic base — a circular stone dais ringed with scattered candles and inlaid with a star emblem — adds immediate atmosphere without overwhelming the figure itself.

Whether she anchors your campaign as a recurring templar NPC, serves as the centrepiece of a cleric-heavy party, or simply stands on your painting shelf as a showcase piece, Valerie brings a quiet gravity to whatever table she graces.

  • Adventurers building a paladin or cleric PC who wants a miniature that reads as devout rather than merely martial
  • DMs who need a recurring knightly NPC — a templar superior, a vigilant lord-commander, or a champion holding a sacred site
  • Painters looking for rich surface variety: quilted cloth, smooth robes, detailed metalwork, and an evocative candle-strewn base
  • Collectors drawn to the Dungeons & Maidens range of strongly characterised, faithfully sculpted female heroes

Encounter Hook

The party is summoned before the Gilded Conclave to answer for a relic they recovered from a cursed vault. Valerie stands at the head of the chamber, unmoving, shield and mace set aside — a deliberate gesture. She is not here to threaten. She is here because the relic is older than anyone in the room realises, and the curse attached to it has a name she recognises. She has been waiting for someone to find it. She just wasn't expecting it to be them.
