Few creatures embody the malicious creativity of the Monster Manual quite like the Mimic — and MZ4250's Outhouse Mimic takes that concept to a gloriously absurd and horrifying conclusion. What appears to be a humble wooden outhouse is, in fact, a gaping maw of concentric teeth and a slavering tongue, framed within a perfectly convincing timber structure complete with a shingled roof. The sculpt captures the full grotesque comedy of the encounter: the flared ring of inward-pointing teeth, the cluster of nodule-like eyes lurking just above the threshold, and a thick, curling tongue lolling out from the lower jaw — all nestled inside what looks, from a distance, entirely unremarkable.
This is a piece that rewards a close look. The contrast between the mundane woodgrain panelling of the outhouse walls and the wet, organic horror of the creature within is precisely what makes the Outhouse Mimic such a memorable encounter prop. Painted up with a weathered wood effect on the exterior and a deep, visceral palette for the interior — wet pinks, slick purples, and glinting teeth — this mini has the potential to get an outstanding reaction at the table.
The sculpt is from MZ4250's 2025 Monster Manual series, representing the updated Mimic stat block in its most chaotic possible disguise. Whether you're running a wilderness road encounter, a seedy town on the frontier, or simply want to remind your players that nowhere is safe, this is the piece for it.
This miniature is particularly well-suited to adventurers who:
- Want to spring a truly unexpected mimic encounter on unsuspecting players
- Are building out a wilderness road or rural settlement scatter collection
- Love the dark comedy at the heart of classic D&D monster design
- Collect MZ4250's Monster Manual 2025 series in full
- Appreciate a display piece that tells its own story without a word of explanation
Encounter Hook: The party spots what appears to be a roadside privy on the edge of a muddy track. One player character, in desperate need of a comfort break after a long day's march, heads over alone. The door swings open — and the Outhouse Mimic acts on its surprise round. Roll initiative.
Details
This is a 32mm scale resin miniature of the Outhouse Mimic from MZ4250's Monster Manual 2025 series. It is supplied unpainted and unassembled if applicable, ready to prime and paint. The sculpt is a terrain-scale encounter piece — the outhouse structure itself forms the body of the creature, making it larger than a standard character mini and an excellent focal point on the board.
