This is a warband scout, a flanker, a chieftain's outrider — the kind of mounted threat that forces a party to change their battle plan on the fly. The orc sits astride a heavily built war wolf, the beast armoured with a fitted iron chanfron across its muzzle and dressed in layered, shaggy fur that speaks to something half-wild and wholly dangerous. The rider matches the mount in presence: broad-shouldered, clad in studded plate and pauldrons, a skull trophy fixed at his saddle, and a tall ornate spear held aloft — its head shaped as a forked blade with a central point, the shaft long enough to threaten any footsoldier before they can close distance.
The sculpt rewards painters with an exceptional range of textures in a single model. The wolf's fur transitions from dense and rough across the shoulders to finer along the legs, while the rider's armour layers riveted leather, segmented plate, and cloth skirts — each panel calling for a different painting approach. The orc's face carries the blunt, heavy-browed ferocity of a veteran who has ridden down more opponents than he can count. On the gaming table, the large 51mm base gives this piece the physical presence it deserves, and the spear reaches dramatically upward to dominate the tabletop silhouette.
This miniature is multipart, allowing you to assemble and pose with a little care before priming. It comes mounted on a large round base and is available with or without a decorative base — choose the option that suits your display or dungeon tiles.
- Adventurers building an orc warband or mounted raider encounter group
- DMs who need a mounted boss or elite cavalry unit that reads clearly from across the table
- Painters who want a piece with rich texture variety — fur, armour, leather, and bone — in one sculpt
- Collectors drawn to a display piece with strong vertical impact and a dramatic silhouette
Encounter Hook: The party crests a ridge overlooking the trade road just as a lone orc rider emerges from the treeline below, war wolf hackles raised and spear upright — the signal call. Moments later, a second, then a third rider appears. Someone just walked into a pincer that was laid hours ago.
