Meet Grampy Mushroom — the grizzled elder of the fungal folk. This wonderfully characterful Myconid miniature captures a squat, ancient mushroom-being with a broad, lumpy cap, a deeply creased and scowling face peering out from beneath it, and gnarled root-like limbs hanging at his sides. There is wisdom in those wrinkled features, and an unmistakable sense that he has seen generations of surface-dwellers wander into his cavern and lived to grump about all of them.
In D&D 5e, Myconids dwell in the deepest reaches of the Underdark, communicating through spore clouds and forming sovereign circles governed by their eldest members. This old fellow looks every bit the sovereign — world-weary, watchful, and not remotely impressed by whatever the party has brought to his doorway. Whether you deploy him as a reluctant guide through the fungal warrens, a keeper of spore-memory secrets, or a surprisingly formidable sovereign who has had quite enough of adventurers stomping through his realm, this miniature carries tremendous personality straight out of the box. He works equally well as a gaming piece and as a display collectible for any Underdark-themed shelf.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Are running Underdark arcs and want a memorable Myconid elder NPC
- Need a sovereign figure for a fungal colony encounter
- Love painting character-rich faces and organic textures
- Collect fey or plant-type creatures for display
Encounter Hook:
The party follows a trail of bioluminescent spores deep beneath the surface until they find him — seated on a throne of compacted mycelium, surrounded by silent attendants, clutching a scroll that smells of something that died before the kingdom above ground was founded. He does not greet them. He simply says: "You're late. Sit down."
