The Ochre Jelly is one of the dungeon's most unnerving residents — not because it's fearsome in the traditional sense, but because it doesn't care. It doesn't plot, it doesn't flee, and it doesn't stop. It simply moves, engulfs, and dissolves. MZ4250's sculpt captures that eerie, amorphous quality with real character: a rounded, rippling mass of luminous green slime, low-slung and deceptively still, its surface bubbling with the suggestion of motion even in resin.
Two renders are included here showing the same sculpt from different angles, giving you a clear sense of the miniature's full silhouette before you paint it. The organic, fleshy texture across the body takes washes and contrast paints brilliantly — greens, yellows, and sickly amber tones all work to great effect. This is a miniature that rewards a wet-blending approach, and the smooth curves make it genuinely satisfying to paint.
Whether you're running a classic dungeon crawl or crafting an Underdark encounter that catches your players completely off guard, the Ochre Jelly slots in with quiet menace. It also works wonderfully as a display piece — something viscerally alien sitting on a shelf alongside more conventional monsters.
- Adventurers running old-school dungeon crawls full of environmental hazards
- DMs who want to introduce ooze-type creatures without telegraphing the danger
- Painters who enjoy organic textures and wet-blending techniques
- Collectors building out a bestiary of classic D&D monsters
Encounter Hook: The party discovers a corridor choked with the remains of a previous adventuring group — armour corroded, weapons half-dissolved. As they pick through the wreckage, the far wall begins to slide forward. It was never a wall.
