This set from Epic Miniatures delivers two distinct occult altar pieces, each dripping with dark ritual atmosphere. The first is a raised stone shrine crowned by a spiked plinth bearing a large horned skull idol — ram-like curling horns sweep out from either side of the skull, while squat candles line the stepped base and a pair of stairways grant access from the front. The detailing on the stone flags and spiked trim gives it the look of a long-established place of worship for something that should not be worshipped.
The second piece is a circular summoning dais: three concentric tiers of dressed stone, ringed by a cluster of melted candles of varying heights, with a recessed pentagram etched into the flat top. It reads immediately as a summoning circle — whether your party has stumbled upon an active ceremony or the cold aftermath of one is entirely up to your Dungeon Master.
Both pieces are photographed unpainted in grey resin, showing crisp detail across the stonework, candle drips, and carved sigils. They pair naturally on the same encounter map or can anchor separate rooms in a larger dungeon.
A solid choice for adventurers who:
- Run cult encounters, summoning rituals, or underground shrine discoveries
- Want distinct, readable scatter terrain that communicates danger at a glance
- Are building a Ravenloft, Underdark, or urban sewer dungeon layout
- Enjoy painting atmospheric terrain pieces as standalone hobby projects
Encounter Hook: The paladin's Divine Sense flares the moment the party enters the chamber — two altars, both radiating fiendish energy, and a cultist circle that has clearly been interrupted mid-ceremony. The question is whether the summoning was completed before they arrived.
