Description

In the heart of the old wood, where roots crack stone and the forest floor swallows the forgotten, an ancient tree leans over the path — patient, watching, alive in ways that have nothing to do with the wind.

The Nurse Log is a beautifully characterful piece of scatter terrain sculpted by Mia Kay M3DM. Its dramatically arching, deeply textured trunk sweeps upward from a base carpeted in toadstools, moss-covered rocks, and tangled roots, before spreading into a dense canopy of individually detailed maple-like leaves. Whether you're staging an ambush in the Neverwinter Wood, marking the entrance to a Feywild grove, or simply dressing a wilderness hex with something that earns a second look, this piece carries genuine weight on the tabletop.

It's the kind of terrain that DMs reach for when they want players to actually remember a location — the clearing with the crooked tree, the place where the druid paused and whispered a warning. Equally at home in a painted diorama or as an unpainted display piece, the sculpt holds its own from every angle.

Well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Want to build evocative forest, druid circle, or Feywild encounter maps
  • Need scatter terrain that doubles as meaningful cover on a battle grid
  • Enjoy painting ambitious foliage textures and organic forms
  • Are building a wilderness diorama or nature-themed display collection

Encounter Hook:
The party tracks the missing herbalist into the Thornwood at dusk. At the forest's edge stands the crooked tree the locals whisper about — the one that wasn't there last week. A Perception check reveals shallow claw marks in the bark at exactly shoulder height, and a Nature check identifies the toadstools at its base as a species that only grows in places where something powerful has died. The druid feels a pulse from the earth beneath it. It isn't a heartbeat. It's a countdown.

This piece is printed at 32mm scale and arrives ready for priming and painting, or use as-is straight from the box. The model with the detailed base comes as a single piece attached to the base. The model with a plain base comes with the base detached for easy attachment with a small amount of glue. Minor support marks are possible given the complexity of the canopy — these are easily tidied up and part of working with highly detailed organic sculpts.
