Kaelor is a man who speaks through his arrows. This large-scale display bust captures him at full draw — longbow arm extended, string pulled taut, fletched arrows rising from the cylindrical quiver strapped across his back. His expression is one of absolute focus: heavy brow, narrowed eyes, jaw set. He has seen what he is aiming at, and it will not escape him.
The sculpt rewards close attention. His travel-worn cloak hangs in loose folds around broad shoulders, its edges ragged and frayed from long seasons in the wilderness. Leather bracers wrap his forearms, and the wrap-bound grip of the bow shows the kind of practical field repair that keeps equipment alive when you are far from any settlement. The quiver — a substantial tube of tooled leather secured by buckled straps — is packed with feather-fletched arrows, each one visible in convincing detail from both the front and the rear.
Viewed from behind, the bust is equally compelling: the quiver dominates the upper back, the layered cloak gathers in weathered creases, and the hair — tousled, wild, and full of life — sits naturally above the collar. This is a sculptor who understands that display busts are examined from every angle, and has put the work in accordingly.
Kaelor suits a broad range of TTRPG contexts — a seasoned ranger deep in the wilderness, a bounty hunter who never misses, a scout from a grim northern settlement, or the player character your ranger has been searching for a face to match. His look is grounded and human, with none of the stylisation that can make display busts feel purely decorative. He belongs equally on a painting competition plinth or beside a forest-encounter board.
This bust is a serious painting project — the textures across the cloak, the leather wrap detail, the individual arrow fletchings, and the strong facial planes are all designed to hold washes, drybrushing, and layered highlights with excellent results. Skin tones, muted earth colours, and deep woodland greens will suit him well.
A good choice for adventurers who:
- Main ranger, hunter, or scout characters and want a display piece to match
- Enjoy large-scale painting projects with a wealth of textural detail
- Are building a Tales of Kreyvos display or collector's set
- Want a centrepiece bust that reads as a genuine character, not a trophy piece
- Are painting for competition and need strong, distinct planes to work with
Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a creature through the Kreyvos marshes for two days when they find Kaelor crouched at the water's edge, bow raised, completely still. He does not look at them. In a low voice, without turning, he tells them the beast they are hunting is thirty feet upstream — and that something larger is hunting it. He looses his arrow. Then he looks at them for the first time. He says: "You should not have followed it here."
