Description

He arrived before the first thaw — pick in hand, shovel at his side — and the villagers learned quickly that the graves of the north stay closed for a reason.

The Northern Grave Warden is no romantic figure of death. He is a working man of bleak purpose: long-haired, broad-hatted, and laden with the tools of his grim trade. A mattock rests across one shoulder, a short-handled shovel hangs at his side, and his belt is cluttered with keys, pouches, and implements that speak to years of solitary, thankless labour in frozen ground. His expression is weathered suspicion — the look of someone who has seen too many things crawl back out of the earth to be startled by much anymore. The sigil embroidered on his coat marks him as something more than a mere gravedigger: he answers to an order, or perhaps an oath, older than the settlement he serves.

This sculpt by Monster Atlas captures every crease, clasp, and coiled rope with the kind of detail that rewards a careful painter and holds its own straight off the print plate. Whether you place him at a frost-bitten cemetery gate or behind the counter of a cursed undertaker's parlour, he carries real narrative weight. Equally at home on a gaming table or a display shelf, this is a characterful piece for adventurers who appreciate the quieter, more unsettling corners of a campaign setting.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Need a memorable NPC — quest-giver, gatekeeper, or reluctant ally with something to hide
  • Are running a gothic horror, undead, or Ravenloft-style campaign arc
  • Want a grizzled human character mini with a working-class, non-combat aesthetic
  • Collect dark fantasy or cemetery-themed miniatures for display

Encounter Hook:
The party arrives at the village of Greyholm to find the cemetery gate padlocked from the inside. The warden — surly, sleep-deprived, and clutching a ring of iron keys — refuses to open it. Something stirred beneath the permafrost three nights ago, he says, and until he's certain it's settled again, nobody goes in. Nobody goes out either. He eyes the party's weapons with the calculating look of a man who's already mentally drafted a bill for damages.

Details

Printed at 32mm scale. The model and decorative base are supplied as separate pieces — attach with superglue for the best result, as some sculpts interact directly with their base. Supports are removed before dispatch; as with all resin printing, minor marks may occasionally remain and are straightforward to clean up before priming.
