The völva occupies a singular place in Norse myth — part seeress, part spirit-caller, part something far older than either. This sculpt captures her not in the composed authority of her high seat, but in the raw, uncontrolled frenzy of deep seiðr trance. Both arms are flung wide, grasping at something unseen. Her torso twists low, cloak billowing behind her, while her legs — scaled and taloned, as though the spirits have already begun their work upon her flesh — brace her weight in a wide, lurching stance.
