The Norse Völva was no mere fortune-teller — she was a practitioner of seiðr, a conduit between worlds, and a figure even jarls and kings thought twice about crossing. This sculpt captures that uncanny authority in a single commanding gesture: one arm extended, one finger pointing, her whole bearing radiating the certainty of someone who has already seen how this ends.
Look closely and the sculpt rewards the painter's eye. Long braided hair falls past her shoulders, adorned with a jewelled circlet across her brow. Her robes are layered and worn, hung with circular medallions and belted with ritual pouches — the tools of a seeress who works in power, not steel. Her hands are elongated and clawed, one arm hanging loose with eerie grace at her side. Most striking of all are her legs: scaled and reptilian from the knee down, ending in bird-like talons — a mark of something ancient, something half-transformed, something that has walked between the mortal world and whatever lies beyond it.
One leg is raised mid-stride, lending the pose a sense of motion that sits between command and ritual dance. She is not threatening you. She simply already knows what you are about to do.
This miniature is equally at home as a BBEG völva shaman commanding undead warriors, a mysterious NPC who brokers forbidden knowledge, or a bold player character walking the path of a Druid, Sorcerer, or Warlock with deep ties to the old Norse ways. Painted in cold whites and bone tones, she would be a show-stopper on any display shelf.
- Adventurers running Norse-themed campaigns who need an authoritative, unsettling command figure
- DMs looking for a memorable seeress or shaman NPC with genuine visual presence
- Players building a Druid, Sorcerer, or Warlock character rooted in northern myth
- Painters who want a sculpt full of texture — scales, braids, layered cloth, and ritual jewellery — to bring to life
Encounter Hook: The party arrives at the longhouse seeking an alliance, only to find the chieftain seated in silence — and behind him, a tall woman with reptilian feet and a pointing finger already aimed squarely at the party's rogue. "That one," she says. "That one has something of mine."
