This rotund and self-possessed noble cuts a distinctive figure — one boot resting on a small locked chest, a large tome spread open in his hands, and the unhurried air of a man who knows that information is worth more than gold. He wears a broad-brimmed hat, a layered travelling coat with a knotted scarf at the throat, and close-fitting breeches tucked into short boots. A belt pouch hangs at his hip. He is clearly someone who has been places and written everything down.

The sculpt rewards patient brushwork. The open pages of the book offer a fine surface for freehand script or illuminated lettering, and the textured fabric of his coat and the metalwork of the chest at his feet give painters plenty of material to work with. Whether you bring him to life in rich academic burgundy and gold or the dusty travelling clothes of a scholar on the road, there is real personality baked into every line of this sculpt.

As an NPC, he slots naturally into any city, court, or scholarly institution — the archivist who holds a vital piece of lore, the collector who commissioned the party to retrieve something from the chest you can see he's standing on, or the retired adventurer who now writes histories instead of making them. Encounter Hook

The party has been hired to escort Lord Aldric Vane — noted historian, occasional bore, and holder of a sealed chest he refuses to discuss — from the capital to a monastery three days' ride away. On the second night, he opens the chest to consult something inside, and the party catches a brief glimpse of a hand-drawn map before he snaps it shut. Someone else clearly wants that map too: the campfire goes dark, and the arrows start flying.
