Description

He has catalogued the fall of three dynasties, survived two coups, and never once spilled ink on his doublet — though tonight, in a torchlit archive that shouldn't exist, his hand is finally trembling.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

This rotund, well-dressed historian cuts a quietly authoritative figure — a man of books, bureaucracy, and buried secrets. He stands with one hand resting on a tall walking staff or scholar's rod and the other extended in a gesture somewhere between explanation and deflection, as if he is already two steps ahead of whatever question you're about to ask. His beret, voluminous puffed breeches, heavily layered doublet and scarf mark him as a man of means and perhaps of minor noble rank — or at least someone who has dressed the part long enough that nobody has questioned it.

The sculpt captures a wonderful sense of weight and presence. He is not a warrior, but he is absolutely not someone to be trifled with. His beard is neat, his belly is considerable, and his bearing suggests he has navigated courts, archives, guildhalls, and at least one politically inconvenient investigation. Whether you read him as a kindly lorekeeper, a self-important city magistrate, a fence for stolen artefacts, or the campaign's most useful contact, the sculpt leaves room for all of it.

As a painting project he rewards a warm, earthy palette — deep burgundies and muted golds for the doublet, sandy or cream tones for the shirt, with worn leather for the belt and boots. His face, with its round cheeks and expressive posture, will take washes and highlights beautifully. He's equally rewarding displayed on a shelf as he is placed across the table from a party of suspicious adventurers.

Suits adventurers who:

  • Need a well-realised quest-giver, contact, or information broker NPC
  • Are running urban intrigue, courtly politics, or scholarly mystery arcs
  • Want a distinguished miniature that photographs and displays as well as it plays
  • Are building out a town, guild hall, or noble household cast of characters

Encounter Hook

The party has been hired to recover a stolen manuscript from the city's Grand Archive. The curator who meets them — portly, charming, and conspicuously unruffled by the theft — is this man. He knows exactly what was taken, exactly who took it, and exactly why he cannot tell the party the truth. The question is whether they notice the tell in his gesture before he talks his way out of the room.
