The Nimblewright is one of the most distinctive constructs in the D&D bestiary: built not to batter but to fence. Part marionette, part magical assassin, this sculpt captures every nuance of that uncanny elegance. The feathered cavalier's hat sits atop a gaunt, skull-like face flanked by a pointed moustache — an echo of the courtly master who may have commissioned its creation. A long flowing cloak drapes over an articulated skeletal frame, the joints of its arms and legs rendered with mechanical precision. In its right hand, an ornate rapier extends in a measured thrust. The left arm reaches wide — whether gesturing to disarm a foe or maintaining balance mid-lunge is left to your imagination, and your DM's discretion.
This is a miniature that works as hard in a painting queue as it does on the table. The layered cloak, the scroll-worked rapier guard, and the skeletal anatomy beneath all offer excellent detail for brushwork at any skill level. On the tabletop, it reads clearly from across the mat — instantly recognisable as something not quite human, and far more dangerous than it appears.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Need a Nimblewright for D&D 5e encounters — bodyguard, escaped construct, or clockwork assassin
- Are building city-based or gothic intrigue campaigns where an animated duelist fits the atmosphere
- Play or run artificer-themed adventures and want constructs with genuine visual personality
- Collect display miniatures with strong character silhouettes and paintable surface detail
Encounter Hook:
The merchant's bodyguard steps forward without a word — its rapier levelled at chest height, its dead eyes tracking the party rogue with unsettling accuracy. Someone wound this thing up this morning. The question is who, and what exactly they paid for.
