The Naga is one of the most architecturally distinct creatures in any bestiary — neither wholly serpent nor wholly human, but something older and stranger than either. This sculpt captures that uncanny duality with real character: a coiled serpentine body ringed with overlapping scales and a fringe of short spines along the dorsal ridge, rising into a smooth, muscular neck that curves upward to a humanoid face of striking composure. Fin-like appendages flare at either side of the head, and a single blunt horn crowns the brow. The expression is watchful, poised, and distinctly deliberate — the face of a creature that has outlived civilisations and is in no particular hurry.
The style leans into the expressive and slightly stylised — this is not a grimdark monster but an ancient intelligence rendered with personality. It reads as dangerous precisely because it looks so calm. Whether you envision this as a Spirit Naga guarding a crumbling temple, a Dark Naga running an information network from the shadows of a city sewer, or a Guardian Naga who considers the party's intentions for a very uncomfortable length of time, the sculpt carries the weight of that ambiguity without saying a word.
The coiled lower body gives the miniature a satisfying footprint on the table, keeping it stable while also communicating that deceptive stillness nagas are known for — the sense that the coils could unwind into terrible speed at any moment.
Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:
- Need a memorable encounter boss for a lost temple or ancient ruin
- Are running a campaign arc involving serpent cults, yuan-ti, or ancient magic
- Want a morally ambiguous NPC that could serve as villain, oracle, or uneasy ally
- Appreciate a miniature that rewards careful brushwork on scales, skin, and expression alike
- Are building a display piece that draws the eye from across a room
Encounter Hook
The party descends into the lower chamber of the Serpent Ziggurat to find the altar already occupied. She is coiled around the base of the obsidian plinth, her yellow-green eyes tracking each adventurer as they enter. She does not strike. She speaks — and she knows the name of the cleric's dead god, the rogue's sealed warrant, and exactly what the wizard came here to find. She hasn't moved. She doesn't need to.
