Description

Nobody in the artificer's workshop could agree on what the device actually did — only that it had been ticking for three hundred years and nobody dared unwind it.

  • ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
  • ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
  • ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama

This is the second piece in our Mysterious Clockwork Device range by Novaminis, and it cuts a distinctly different silhouette from its sibling. Where the first device sits low and squat, this one reaches upward — a tall central column ringed with bolted flanges and gear-toothed brackets, a domed cap at its apex like a valve waiting to be turned, and a lateral arm extending outward with its own orb terminal. The whole assembly rises from a wide cogwork base, giving it the look of some self-important gnomish instrument that measures something terribly important in units nobody else understands. Whether it's an arcane relay, a pressure gauge for a subterranean boiler network, or a conduit for something that really shouldn't be conducted — your players won't know, and that's precisely the point.

As scatter terrain it earns its place in workshops, artificer towers, steampunk city encounters, and Underdark machinery chambers alike. It's equally at home as a display piece on a shelf, painted in verdigris brass and aged copper.

A good fit for adventurers who:

  • Run artificer-heavy campaigns or steampunk-adjacent settings
  • Want scatter terrain with genuine narrative weight rather than generic barrels and crates
  • Are building diorama scenes or display setups featuring gnomish or clockwork aesthetics
  • Enjoy a painting challenge with rivets, flanges, gears, and layered mechanical detail

Encounter Hook:
The party has been hired to retrieve a calibration crystal from the Artificers' Vault — but when they arrive, Device 02 is spinning its gears in reverse, emitting a low harmonic hum, and every clockwork construct in the room has turned to face the door. Whatever the device is measuring, the reading is currently very, very high.

Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base comes unattached and can be fixed with a drop of glue. Supplied unprimed and unpainted, ready for your brushwork straight away. We quality-check every piece before it leaves us, though minor marks from the printing process can occasionally occur and are easily tidied up.
